The Local Area

Cambridge University is famous for its wide variety of architecture. The ages of the colleges range from hundreds of years old, to very modern buildings. Some people believe that the most beautiful building in the world is here, King's College Chapel, a very beautiful building outside and with ornate internal decorations that attract many people from all over the world. The colleges have beautiful gardens, with a colourful array of flowers, usually beside the river Cam, which during the summer, can be visited by the public.

The Ark Bed and Breakfast is very close to Anglia Ruskin University, only five minutes walk, which makes it ideal accommodation for anyone attending an event at the University.

We are also well placed to have easy access (15-20 minutes walk) to the Town Centre and (5 minutes walk) Grafton centre. The Cambridge Crown Court is just two minutes walk from The Ark.

The Grafton Centre

The Grafton Centre is a great place to do your shopping. It has a wide variety of shops all in one place so you can concentrate on your shopping.

The Town Centre

In the town centre, there are a huge number of shops, banks, restaurants and cafés. The city attracts many shoppers from a large area around to shop using its brilliant facilities.

The Cinema

The big 8 screen Warner Village Cinema , is just around the corner from the Bed and Breakfast. Cambridge also has the Picturehouse Cinema .

The Swimming Pools

Parkside Swimming Pool

Parkside is just 5 minutes walk from The Ark. It boasts two flumes, a competition standard pool, and a pool with a movable bottom, to make it possible for high diving. It also has a children's paddling pool. It has Kelsey Kerridge sports hall just next door.

Tennis courts

Kelsey Kerridge

Kelsey Kerridge is a large sporting facility, with squash courts, badminton, climbing, football, roller skating and other sporting facilities including a gym.

Punting

The River Cam is only a short walk from The Ark. You can stroll along its banks, take in the lovely views of Midsummer Common and Jesus Green and possibly even treat yourself to a punt ride.
