Coming into Cambridge on the A14 from the North-West
to The Ark, 30 St Matthew's St, Cambridge, CB1 2LT
Printable instructions at the bottom of this page Leave the A14 on the A1307 signposted to Cambridge. This involves leaving the main road just before it changes into the M11. If you then stay in the left hand lane you will continue on the A14 towards Newmarket, which you do NOT want. So once you are on the slip road, keep in the lane which goes straight on into Cambridge (A1307). This becomes the Huntingdon Road. Continue a long way on this, into the 30mph area and on until you pass a couple of modern Cambridge University colleges on your right (Fitzwilliam College and New Hall). You will see a sign on your left with lights indicating parking places available in the city's multi-storey carparks. Almost immediately on your left there is a dead-looking ex-Texaco garage. By the garage you come to a complex traffic light system. Get into the left lane and turn left. Immediately AFTER you turn left there is another choice, to bear further left (Histon Road) or to go straight on (Victoria Road). You want to carry straight on, on Victoria Road. Stay on this road until you reach a very big roundabout (with a Staples shop on it) where you have to give way to traffic coming from your right. Get into the traffic flow - don't take the first left (Milton Road), but do take the second left (Chesterton Road). Continue on this until you reach a large grassy roundabout with mature trees on it. Turn right here (third exit from the roundabout) down Elizabeth Way. As you cross a dual carriageway bridge over the river, get into the right hand lane. You reach a roundabout with traffic lights. Take the second exit from this (in effect turning half right) down East Road. As you enter East Road, keep in the left hand lane and at the next traffic lights (only 100 metres from the roundabout) turn left, just after a large round building on your left. This is St Matthew's Street. Go straight over a mini-roundabout and follow the road as it bends right. You'll see a church on the left of the road. Our house is next to the church, just past it. We hope you find us OK. ![]()
